MARTINEZ -- A man was killed in a car crash on Highway 4 Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man, who has not been identified, was traveling west on Highway 4 at 10:45 p.m. when somehow his blue sedan left the roadway just east of Pacheco Boulevard (map), the CHP said. The man crashed through bushes, a chain-link fence and drove down an embankment, authorities said. His car came to a rest in Grayson Creek.

The man, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
